Joel Rasmussen is the head coach of the Australian Barbell Clinic

A series of unfortunate events pushed Joel into strength training. A spine disease in his late-20s led him to pursue strength training to regain control of his upper limbs. He then herniated multiple discs after a ladder fall, resulting in semi-paralysis of his lower limbs and loss of sensation from his hips to his toes. Instead of going through the route of multiple surgeries he rehabilitated his spine with strength training and now can walk and train with very little pain.

Joel is passionate about strength and the benefits it has for our physical existence. When we train to get stronger we tell our bodies to ‘quit dying and start building’ storing away healthy tissue for later on in life when aging and sickness start to make withdrawals. He works with clients who have suffered strokes, spine injuries and joint surgeries helping them to regain strength and control over their bodies.

Joel is a qualified personal trainer, an associate coach and nutrition coach for Barbell Logic Online Coaching, has attended the Starting Strength Seminar and Camps, and has been married to his beautiful wife Nicole for over a decade.
